A New Idea in Printers!

Here's a neat idea in the portable printer department!

You download your image into the printer and then you
move the printer to and fro across the page and it
senses where you are and drops ink as appropriate!

Shoot a million Rounds a minute!

Wow!

New technology that can shoot a million rounds a minute...

If you need some more enticement to read the article
how about the following quote:

"While much of the technology is a closely guarded secret,
the firing mechanism has no moving parts. Instead, it uses
electronic ballistics technology. Unlike other guns, the only
parts which move are the bullets. "

and the name is most excellent: MetalStorm....

Hand-Sized Computer Systems

I guess that this is getting close to the true "palm" computer!

Note the small 'p' in palm because that's the size of it! (essentially 5x6x2)

Dual NIC GP is $395, Dual NIC GP+ is $495

Here are the specs!

Hardware Specifications:

SIS 55x processor (x86 compatible)

CIR (InfraRed)
PS/2 Keyboard/Mouse connector

Single 5V @ 1.8 A support

128 MB RAM
10 GB 2.5" hard disk

The Microserver GP and GP+ can support the following resolutions:

640 x 480, 800 x 480, 800 x 600, 1024 x 576, 1024 x 768, 1280 x 720, 1280 x 1024,
1600 x 1400, 1920 x 1440, 2048 x 1536.

The GP/GP+ consume only 3.8 Watts with solid state disk and 7 Watts (max) with a 2.5 inch hard disk. The GP/GP+ do not require fans - we use our custom-built heat sinks (shown in above picture).

The MicroServer GP+ has these additional features:

1 NTSC or PAL video in (frame grabber)
1 NTSC or PAL TV out
Support for two VGA displays - possibly saving the cost of a second computer

Back Panel of the GP

Dimensions: 4.75 x 6.25 x 1.90 inches
Weight: 800 gms (GP) / 900 gms (GP+) - depends on installed components

WinFS to replace FAT and NTFS

For those of you who might be interested here's and article describing M$ filesystems including some speculation on WinFS (Windows Future Storage).

A primer on FAT and NTFS and some speculation that WinFS is RDBMS based and sort of mumbles about separating the hierarchy of the data from the physical storage on the devices...

Not a lot of meat but interesting...
